Multilingual Tour Guide
JOB SUMMARY
Front-line position, leading and transporting our guests (individual or groups) on tours, ensuring itineraries are followed, providing informative commentary in guests preferred language, and creating positive experiences for tour participants.
MAIN DUTIES
MULTILINGUAL DRIVER-GUIDE
- Lead, transport and accompany our guests as per their itinerary throughout the Northern Territory.
- Prepare and check vehicles ensuring all appropriate licences or permits needed for touring are up to date and valid.
- Confirm and check bilingual tour documentation.
- Manage arrangements and services.
- Provide information and extensive area specific commentary in fluent German, French or Italian.
- Attend to operational problems such as booking errors and amendments, lost property or illness and provide first aid if needed
- Liaise with industry in English
- Liaise with overseas agents and or inbounds in both, English and German, French or Italian.
- Ensure all our guests understand and respect any rules and regulations.
- General depot duties and vehicle relocation.
QUALITY CONTROL DUTIES (For Senior Driver-Guides ONLY)
- Perform quality control checks as advised.
- Analyse and report findings.
- Co-ordinate and update training procedures.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- MR licence with "H" or passenger endorsement
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Multilingual English and German, French or Italian
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Extensive knowledge of Northern Territory culture, history, geology, flora and fauna.
- Prior tourism experience - preferably in driver/guiding, inbound/outbound group operations or consulting.
- Able to maintain a high level of driving skill
- Ability to obtain CDU Kakadu and UKTNP Knowledge certificates
- Ability to obtain other certificates when they become available.
- Up to date knowledge of rules and regulations for all aspects of touring. Including Territory road rules, National park conditions of permits, and ON TOURnt operational procedures.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent leadership skills
